New Lumicene Supertough®: thinner, more productive, highly resistant

Built on proprietary technology, Total Lumicene Supertough® products are a new generation of metallocene polyolefins with superior cleanliness, improved gloss and transparency, as well as enhanced processing and mechanical properties. Total Lumicene Supertough® is a result of a continuous investment in innovation research and technology.

This year we have brought to market three new grades of polyethylene within the Lumicene Supertough® family:

Ideal for lower-thickness, tougher multilayers, Total Lumicene Supertough®  16ST15 flows perfectly and enables reduction of virgin material used while ensuring high impact resistance, excellent optics, and rapid tight sealing.

The material has a good sealing behaviour and outstandingly low stickiness for such a density, which is advantageous for high speed conversion. Total Lumicene Supertough®  16ST15 generates also a lower pressure during extrusion allowing a substantial throughput increase.

Suitable for big bubbles agricultural film production lines, Total Lumicene Supertough®  18ST05 meets manufacturers’ demand for high output and easy processing, thanks to excellent bubble stability, as well as greater impact resistance. It can also be an excellent solution as a recycled booster.

Applications like food and consumer packaging and many others, where the combination of low density resin and good mechanical properties are required, for further down-gauging or incorporation of higher recycling content.

For the production of shrink films, Total Lumicene Supertough®  40ST05 enables thickness reduction while providing a perfect balance between rigidity and superior mechanical properties. Total Lumicene Supertough®  40ST05 has been meticulously developed to address the need for a high density grade with excellent mechanical properties and processability.

With Total’s proprietary technologies, the optimum balance between rigidity and key mechanical properties like Dart and Tear properties was attained and on top of that the excellent processability of this grade will allow convertors to easily process it.

Applications like multilayer collation shrink film, courier bags and many others will find these properties well adapted for incorporation of higher recycling content or further down gauging.
