Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals
REACH legislation (EC 1907/2006) and SVHC statements
The REACH legislation (EC 1907/2006) came into force on June 1, 2007. The aim of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances.
TotalEnergies is fully committed to supporting this objective and to making a positive contribution to the sustainable development of the European Chemical Industry. TotalEnergies is also committed to maintaining and developing its business through the implementation of the regulation and is fully aware of all the requirements that REACH involves and has engaged the necessary human and financial resources to fulfill its responsibilities and realise its objectives. For any questions about the REACH regulation, please use the ECHA FAQ website.
Registration
The substances that TotalEnergies produces or imports in the European Union, including monomers like ethylene, propylene and styrene were registered before December 1, 2010. The information about the registration status is reported on the substance safety data sheet available on TotalEnergies Polymers website. Under the regulation, polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene are exempted from registration.
Polymer grades are preparations and TotalEnergies is downstream user of many substances used as raw materials. TotalEnergies is working closely with the suppliers to ensure registration of the raw materials that it purchases or imports into the European Union. More information on the REACH registration compliance is available in the Regulatory Information Sheet available for all our products (see Regulatory Information page on this website).
Candidate list
SVHC statement (Substances of Very High Concern) for Polyethylene, Polypropylene and Polystyrene
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and REACH
The European Union will move to a new classification and labeling system, CLP (Classification, Labeling and Packaging), which will be based on the United Nations Global Harmonization System, GHS.
TotalEnergies has updated its safety data sheets according to the CLP effective date of December 1, 2010.
For TotalEnergies polymers, which are preparations, the safety data sheets are already compliant with the CLP regulation.
